Our expertise

We’re a top-ranked team of sports lawyers, recognised in the UK and international independent legal directories as true experts in our field. We successfully prepared more people for FIFA's pre-2015 football agent exam than anyone else worldwide.

DAn Lowen

Dan Lowen, sports lawyer and founder of award-winning law firm, Level, is recognised internationally for his expertise in football. He is ranked in Band 1 for Sport in the UK in Chambers & Partners 2023 and helped more aspiring agents pass FIFA’s pre-2015 exam than anyone else worldwide. He’s now relaunched his exam preparation service for the new FIFA Football Agent Exam and he’ll use his unparalleled experience to help you become a licensed Football Agent.

Here’s what the UK and independent legal directories say about Dan:

CHAMBERS AND PARTNERS: “Dan is recognised for his standing in the football market – in addition to a thriving regulatory and disciplinary practice, he boasts exceptional knowledge of the rules surrounding the activities of intermediaries.”

LEGAL 500: “The ‘exceptional’ Daniel Lowen is a figure of prominence within football owing to his representation of players and agents in transfer, commercial contracts and contentious affairs.”

WHO’S WHO LEGAL, SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT: “Dan is ‘a true expert’ in the field of sports law. He is praised for his “impressive” commercial and regulatory understanding and advises clients on player transfers, sponsorship and disciplinary issues. His talent-side work is first class.”

OUR Track record

We specialise in advising football agents and intermediaries on all aspects of their and their clients’ professional lives. We are trusted advisers to small agencies through to super agents, working on everything from young players’ first contracts through to world record transfers. We also advise on some of the most high-profile, complex and valuable disputes, regulatory and disciplinary matters in football.

But whilst we are market-leading sports lawyers, one reason we stand out is our track record in helping aspiring football agents obtain the licence they need to work in the industry. That licence hasn’t been necessary for the past 8 years - since 2015, almost anyone could register as an intermediary and work to build a successful practice in player / club representation. But that’s about to change - the agent exam, which aspiring agents had to pass up until 2015, has returned.

Our pre-2015 agent exam tuition service

The old exam was difficult - very difficult. Pass rates in England ranged between 6% and 30%, and in some countries, it was 0% - there were times when 10, 20, 30 people would sit the biannual exam in a national association and no-one passed. Whether unintentionally or by design, it amounted to a significant barrier to entry into what is widely known to be a lucrative industry.

So we developed a specific, highly-tailored FIFA exam tuition service. We tutored more than 130 aspiring agents, in over 10 countries - more than anyone else around the world. To our knowledge, no-one else tutored anywhere near the number of candidates as us. And most importantly, we got results: more than 85% of candidates we tutored passed the exam at their first sitting. Many have gone on to forge successful careers as football agents; a number are some of the most well-known names in the industry.

Agent Exam Preparation... Relaunched

Now, with the reintroduction of the exam, we’ve relaunched our exam preparation service, with the sole aim of helping you pass at your first attempt. And the stakes couldn’t be higher - unless you passed the exam pre-2015, you will need a FIFA licence to work as a football agent. Without it, you cannot represent players, clubs or coaches on matters relating to any Transaction (the employment, registration or transfer of a player or the employment of a coach).

We assisted many candidates in preparing for the first two sittings of the new FIFA exam in April and September 2023. Over 80% of the candidates we tutored passed the exam. Now, we’re using what we learned from candidates’ experiences last year to further develop and refine our exam preparation materials for those sitting the May 2024 exam, to ensure candidates are as well prepared as possible for the forthcoming exam.

WHY CHOOSE US?

We know there are lots of courses out there about how to become and work as an agent. Our exam preparation will not teach you that. Whilst we can certainly help you in your career as an agent (having been trusted advisers to agents internationally for over 15 years), the aim of our course is different. Our singular focus is preparing you for the exam.

And whilst there are other people - lawyers, agents, academics - who will offer to help you prepare, we are uniquely experienced in getting more people through FIFA’s exams than anyone else worldwide. For that reason, we think we are best placed to help you obtain your licence and forge, or continue, a successful career as a licensed football agent.

Whilst our exam preparation service is provided in association with Level, it does not constitute legal advice and no legal advice is being given by way of this service.
